Selfishness or Stupidness; The Universal health care refusal

April 14, 2008 by ratthewriter

” Why would I pay for somebody else to have health insurance? “

Have you heard this one before or said it yourself, when you were asked about your opinion in Universal health care? I bet you did hear it at least, but I hope you didn’t say it.

See, the way I see it is, why should I pay for your police, fire protection or social security? Does that make sense to you?  It doesn’t. It simply doesn’t. Basic services such as police, fire fighting and health insurance coverage should  all be treated the same. Some money should be set aside from our tax money to cover those services, actually you should add education to the list too.

Some of you will be yelling ” Get the hell out of here, you want the government to do everything for you.” Not everything, but the basic things. If my government is spending billion of dollars in aids to other countries, why shouldn’t it cover my health insurance? It is all tax payers money anyway. Why would we arm Israel and Egypt with billions, educate and develop parts of Eastern Europe or send medical supplies and experts to Africa and Asia but won’t cover the American citizens healthcare costs?

Do you know that some less advanced countries are having better free education and health care system, thanks to our aids!! It just doesn’t add up. Some people out there keep saying ” Universal health care will not only make us spend more money, but also will worsen the medical services.” WHAT? spend more money than now! Worsen our medical services! Wake up. Now, you are paying something like $150 per month out of your pay, and another $100 by your employer but you still will have to pay a fortune if you need a serious operation. You still have to worry about medical bills, even after years of paying the insurance. Well, this won’t happen under universal health care, as long as it is applied right.

My fear is, the lovely lobby that presents the health insurance companies, will somehow screw up the system, if it is applied. They will pass enough money and other nice gifts under the table to the beloved congressmen, so that the universal health care is applied in stupid way that delay the health care process and frustrate the patients.

what also make me worried is the sense of selfishness that some American people are having nowadays. Me, myself and I. That’s it. No place for my fellow citizen. This is when civilization collapse my friend. When people become selfish, communities becomes weak. Weak communities leads to weak country.

Let’s rethink about this statement: ” Why would I pay for someone’s else health care system? ” Why?

The Chinese dilemma !

April 14, 2008 by ratthewriter

If you were watching or reading the news recently, you may have noticed the international protests against having the 2008 Olympics in China. It all started with ” China doesn’t not respect human rights” and ended up with the recent violent actions by the Chinese army towards the citizens of the Tibet.

It is nice and all to have protests and rallies against unfair powers. But we need to start using our common sense more often. Going in the streets with banners and signs, talking on the media about boycotting the Chinese Olympics and all such activities are useless. The reason is simple. China got us by the neck. China export all sort of products to almost the whole planet. They are in the power seat. Unless we stop using their products, we will be wasting precious time protesting on the streets. Money talks. Money is economy. Economy is the Spinal cord of any nation. The more of it, the more powerful the country becomes. And China is making a hell of a lot of money.

I bet you that we were still funding the Chinese products by all these protests. I mean the materials used to make the banners and the signs, are probably somehow made in China. The Pens and tools used in writing on the banners, are probably also 75% made in China.

We, or most of us, want as much as we can get for as cheap as possible. China did that. Gave us all sort of needed basic products ( and even foods and drinks) at a very affordable cheap costs. We got sucked into this scheme to the extended, that we are addicted to “made in China” products. I don’t even think that we can boycott Chinese products now. There aren’t enough alternatives to them, and if there is, the price is too high.

It is a dilemma, I agree. But are we ready to do anything about it? Are you going to give up buying the inexpensive electronic parts for your PC that are made in China? Are you going to throw away your trendy stylish Jeans that is made in China? Are you going to save your country from being in debt to China?
